About 30+ years ago the Tool & Die trade took a serious change in direction because of the rising costs of building tools in the US. Corporations started outsourcing tooling to countries such as China, Mexico, and India. The MTDM (Machine, Tool ,Die and Mold) industry in the US started deteriorating as a result.
We believe that in the current climate, the manufacturing industry in the US must be rejuvenated, and with that in mind, we have to strengthen and rebuild the MTDM in the US. Having recently retired, our goal here at Die Design Innovation (DDI) is to help fill this void by offering our services as independent contract tool designers in an effort to spearhead this endeavor.
Die Designing with Innovation is more than just a slogan, it’s a concept. With innovative ideas we can build tooling that is more sophisticated, reliable, and accurate than we built in the past. The tools provided to us in SOLIDWORKS and Logopress give us that capability. Thinking outside the box is required in order to move forward and not stagnate. We must embrace new technology, seek more innovative ideas, thereby creating better tools.

Early 2020 brought the pandemic upon us, which allowed me to venture back into contract designing. We feel all tool designers must step forward and get the movement going to build a new manufacturing industry from the existing shell that we have been left with. Our concern about this industry has culminated in creating this website. We look forward to hearing from any companies working on current or future projects building tooling and needing die design assistance on a temporary or contract basis done remotely.
Over my entire career I have sought out the impossible and tried to make it possible. Learning, researching, and improving myself through studies has allowed me movement up the tooling ladder. I have also attempted to keep abreast of trending methods of tooling by utilizing new software technologies and capabilities to improve the end product, and myself.
